Shocking Blue
Shocking Blue was a Dutch rock band from The Hague, founded in 1967 by Robbie van Leeuwen. The band achieved international success, including the iconic number-one hit Venus on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. After various lineup changes and successes throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the group disbanded in 1974. Reunion attempts took place in 1979 and later in 1993 with Mariska Veres, but without Van Leeuwen. The band remained active until Veres' passing in 2006. Shocking Blue remains one of the most influential Dutch bands, leaving a lasting impact on rock music.
